Vancity, Canada’s largest community credit union, has achieved the title of Canada’s Best Corporate Citizen for the second year in a row (picking up from their first ranking in 2013). This success is due to their leadership in tackling major social and environmental issues. Despite their achievements, Vancity still has room for improvements. “Even though we’re good, we always think we can aspire to be great,” says Vancity president and CEO Tamara Vrooman; it is this drive to continually have a stronger impact that is helping Vancity to become a leader in CSR.
In this article, read about how Vancity is advancing the credit union to make it what I call a ‘force for good.’ As I said in an interview, “More and more companies, now and in the future, will be pressed to find their own social ambition and build it into the core of what they do” – and Vancity is leading the way.
