Critics of corporate social responsibility (CSR) say that the past 20 years haven’t produced much in terms of actual, on-the-ground changes to companies’ business models. That may be a little harsh, as some organizations did embrace CSR principles quite deeply, but there’s no question that the principles need to transition from a “nice to do” to “essential for business” which is new territory for a lot of corporate senior leaders and boards of directors.
