Our Thriving Community Social Sustainability Strategy

Posted in Social Sustainability

Our Thriving Community Social Sustainability Strategy was adopted by the Township of Langley Council in 2022 to put the Township on course for a connected, inclusive, and resilient community. Coro collaborated with Solstice Sustainability Works and Modus Planning, Design and Engagement to develop Our Thriving Community Social Sustainability Strategy for the Township of Langley.

Our Thriving Community Social Sustainability Strategy establishes a clear vision for the Township’s future — a connected, inclusive, and resilient community where everyone can enjoy and contribute to a great quality of life — and sets a course to get there. While many people in the Township currently enjoy a great quality of life, not everyone is thriving. Rapid population growth, climate change, technological advancement, and unexpected events like the COVID-19 pandemic necessitate a strategy to guide the Township toward its vision. Our Thriving Community Social Sustainability Strategy identifies three goals and six priority areas with actions to pursue in partnership with other organizations and groups.

Goals include:

  • Connected Community
  • Inclusive Community
  • Resilient Community

The six priorities include:

  • Indigenous Relations
  • Belonging
  • Housing and Food
  • Learning
  • Getting Around
  • Health and Safety

By working more collaboratively, thinking big, and being open to doing things differently, the Township hopes to realize its social sustainability vision.
